We are very pleased to announce that descriptions of music collections in over 200 historic houses have now been added to Cecilia. The work was undertaken as part of Music, Home and Heritage, a three-year project funded by the Arts and Humanities Research Council of Great Britain and led by the Royal College of Music and the University of Southampton. The project ran from 2017 until 2020 and has sought to provide researchers and custodians with a more representative overview of music collections in UK historic houses than is currently available. Research Assistants Dr Katrina Faulds and Jonathan Frank have collected and consolidated data from a variety of sources, creating centralised, searchable, high-level descriptions for the Cecilia database. Descriptions of many of these collections are being made public for the first time, providing an exciting starting point for further discoveries.
